The Lycian Way
The Lycian Way is a 540 km marked footpath around the coast of Lycia in southern Turkey, from Fethiye to Antalya. The trail consists mainly of Roman roads, old footpaths and mule trails and takes you to fascinating landscapes with traces of Lycian, Pamphylian, Hellenistic -but mainly Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk and Ottoman-architecture and cultures. You will have the opportunity to visit ancient world heritage sites and stay in authentic coastal villages. The Lycian Way passes about 25 remote historical sites including remains of settlements and ports, paved roads, ancient Greek and roman theatres, baths, forums and temples as well as some beautiful Byzantine monasteries, all combined with beautiful coastal walks and lonely beaches.
